The Rainbow Lorikeet is a species of Australasian parrot found in Australia, Eastern Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. It is common along the eastern seaboard of Australia from Queensland to South Australia and northwest Tasmania.

It has a distinctive flight silhouette namely the flocks dart, twist and wheel among trees or fly straight and direct above the forest canopy. They have diverse habitats. They feed on fruit, nectar, blossom, seeds, berries and orchard fruit. Its bill and eye are bright red and its head streaky-blue violet; chest is red and sides are yellow.

The Rainbow Lorikeet has been introduced to Perth, Auckland in New Zealand and Hong Kong. The Rainbow Lorikeet is considered a pest species in Western Australia and is subject to eradication in the wild.
