Melaleuca rhaphiophylla

Location:  Behind and to the right of the men’s tee on the 3rd hole

Other locations on course: A dense stand is on view across the lake to the south east from the 3rd fairway.

To the right of the tee on the 11th hole.

Another group is growing on the island beside the 3rd green.

Distribution: A species which is endemic to the Southwest of Western Australia.
Height:  to 8 metres.
Uses: Salt tolerant and adapted to survival in swampy conditions.


There are 250 species of melaleuca of which this is one.

The name comes from the Greek melas (black) and leukos (white), alluding to the black trunk and white branches of some trees after a fire.
